More Cards…

March 20, 2010 on 2:10 pm | In Paper crafts | 82 Comments

Went to another class at Archiver’s Thursday nite and made 8 more really cute cards. These cards used Chipboard cutouts,  paper punch outs, ink details, glitter, rub-ons and bling.  You could embelish them as much as you wanted or as little.  I have found in scrapbooking that by adding little details with the ink pen really makes the pages (or cards in this case) look so much better.  They all went together pretty fast.  You could put on the details like “get well” or “Happy Birthday” if you wanted, but I decided to wait till I used them.

Are you one of those people who can’t walk in a bookstore without wanting to buy everything?  I am and I usually always end up buying a book or two that looks interesting.  Being an avid reader, I have a bunch of  books that I have not read yet.  I am going to include those books here too, since most of them I have had for a bit of time.  The one I just finished reading  is called Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich.  It is great.  All of the books in the Stephanie Plum series are hilarous and so funny.  They are a riot….side splitting funny :) I would definitely recommend them for a great easy read.  :)

Yes I did mention in the last post that there were 4 cards that we could make and that I only finished 3 in class. The 4th one I did finish on Saturday afternoon and here it is.

Valentine’s Day Cards

February 3, 2010 on 8:54 pm | In Paper crafts, Uncategorized | 67 Comments

I have always thought that it would be fun to make some cards for the holidays.   I have never gone to a class or anything because I didn’t want to start another “hobby” where I end up buying all the materials and supplies and then don’t get projects done.  Last week I was in Archivers and they were haviing a Valentine’s day card making class, so on impulse I signed up for it.  It was last nite at the Store.  It was lots of fun. We could make 4 cards.  I got three of them done in class (yeah!!) and it was lots of fun.  Our teacher was very patient and very nice.  The class as a whole did well and got lots accomplished in the 3.5 hrs alloted. Here are pictures of the three cards that I made :)

Fused glass bracelet

Back in the spring of 2009 I took a Fused Glass Jewelry Class that  a Coworker of mine organzied.  I love to make things and thought this would be fun.  Fused glass is different pieces of colored glass that is heated up to melt it together.  The first session the teacher helped us to select a project, either a bracelet or pieces for pendants, and then select glass.  These pieces of glass would be fused together in a kiln to make a glass bar.  In the second session the glass bar is then cut into pieces.  These pieces are then fused in the kiln again to round the edges and finish the pieces.  I chose to make a bracelet.  After the second fuse then we could assembly the pieces to finish our projects.  We didn’t have a third session to complete this last step, so we had to do it on our own.  I had everything I needed to finish my bracelet, but didn’t take the time to finish it.  So I glued everything together yesterday and now I have a finished bracelet.  I have included pictures of the finished bracelet.

Hello world!

Welcome to my blog :) .  I have never had a blog before and thought this might be fun.  We all have projects that we have started and never finished.  I have lots of them and most of them relate to either home improvement or crafts!  What I am planning to do with this blog is to document my progress this year with completing projects that were started prior to Jan 2010.
